Falling to Rise: The Power of Strength Without Sympathy

Have you ever seen this or done this to your child?
When a child tries to walk and falls down, suddenly everyone in the family in the room starts looking elsewhere so that the child forgets the pain, feels like no one is going to sympathize with them, and then gets up and starts walking again. That’s what needs to be done to us as adults. Stop sympathizing or gathering attention unnecessarily. We all fall to rise, and the less we are sympathized with, the sooner we move away from pain.

We still do the same for our children, but we don’t want anyone else to do it to us, even though we are much more capable of handling pain and rising up without support now.
The basic framework of our psychology has not changed, but the expectation that people should sympathize with us has grown multifold. Look around— the toughest, strongest, and most successful ones are those who didn’t get sympathy.
