When life changes our seat

No one can truly see life from the other side until they have lived it.
As a child, you cannot completely understand a parent. As a student, you rarely think like a teacher. As a team member, you may not see a manager’s perspective; and as an employee, it is difficult to fully understand an employer’s responsibilities.
Only a rare few possess the maturity to mentally cross over to the other side without actually being there—to question their own perspective and understand someone else’s reality.
That is perhaps the irony of every phase of life: we judge from the side we stand on, and understand only when life changes our seat.
Wisdom is being able to change the seat in your mind before life changes it for you.
