Sending children to foreign countries for higher education is fashion or status or better education. No parents would want to send their children away from them.

We, as Indians, are speaking of having doubled the number of universities, colleges, and education institutions in the past decade. Mere increasing the number of colleges doesn’t solve the problem. But the challenge is the quality of education, commitment of teachers, competitiveness, exposure, and the ratio of students to teachers- all of it is falling short. We are trying to stop people from having their weddings in other countries so that we can route the income to India. And here, we see considerable revenue for the government by diverting the income spent on education by lakhs of students going abroad for studies. We have a reputation for inventing many scientific and mathematical theories in India. We boast of all the Gurukul system and the oldest Universities in India. Hasn’t the time arrived to focus on the education system to stop this seepage?
